George Carlin

this video has become one of the most popular this week on YouTube....

i first remember George Carlin ( OBIT / official / wiki ) as the crazy-looking comedian on some old vinyl albums that my mom had. he actually looked funny. but for a kid like me it was not easy to understand all that adult humor with all those bad words. i knew that george was kinda like the white guy version of Richard Pryor. i always had the impression that those two guys were the best back then. and they were both dirty and raunchy. and all the adults loved it. and it wasn't on tv. of course it was only after my own adulthood that i started to understand what george was really bitching about. i realize now that he was a courageous person for being so blunt and honest. he exercised his freedom in ways that most of us never do. george carlin helped America define the limits of free speech for everyone. the Supreme Court said so. and george carlin also did more to strengthen the right of free speech than any politician during his lifetime. thanks, george
